The summer wind, came blowin' in from across the sea, It lingered there to touch your hair and walk with me ... Frank Sinatra

As usual (unless Mom is Pregnant or just had a baby) August is for Cape Cod, and more Cape Cod.
I really like August on The Cape because it starts to slow down and all the tourists head home, Mom and Dad are finally relaxed and camp is coming to a close. It's like a true summer with warm winds and we all have good stories from our summer experiences. This year was particularly awesome because Mom/Dad finally gave into buying a Kayak. All of us had turns and I think next year we might even get another (if we bug them enough!)

Mallory and I played "Taxi" as often as possible.

Landy gave it a go too and we ended up in hysterics

Something else we have been meaning to do (and Nown always encouraged) was to get our Clam Digging hats on and BBQ up a free dinner straight off Nono's beach. Dad needs to perfect his recipe but its was a lot of fun to watch Dad sweat while we floated around near him yelling EWWWWWW!

Morty and Landy are at the age where they really weird teeth, some small, some gigantic and lots of funny gaps. It's hard to look at them sometimes and chewing food requires a strong gag reflex most of the time. The Moms think its "cute" when they are missing teeth but I can't wait for Morty to have a smile that looks like he's eating something other than rocks...which brings me to my next summer story.
One morning Morty and I were playing "Baby Baby Eat Your Vegetables" which entails me pushing his face into his plate (because babies need some direction - obviously!) I may have gotten a little carried away and knocked mortys front tooth out but lets be real - that tooth was hanging by a slimy thread anyhow, right!? I was actually doing him a service.

How do we get rid of that other ugly tooth?!!

The rest of the summer just seemed to fly by and there was nothing we could do to slow it down. Once the summer solstice (Nown's Favorite day of the summer) is behind us, its really all downhill from there. We still had a few fun things on the calendar left, for instance: Mrs. Smith came for a visit all the way to Cape Cod,sans Stella & Ruby : /.
Mom and Dad FINALLY finished decorating the basement and it turned out to be much more insect free than I had originally feared. Eek.

SnapChat is always top fun

I puked on my self in bed the night that Mrs. Smith arrived so I got to stay home from camp to hang with them on the beach the next day. It could have been due to the 11 BBQ scallops I had for dinner but we will never know for sure.

Mommy & Gamma were working on this really cool photo book for Ellen Harris' family so they could have a copy of all the photos Gamma took over the years of Nono's best friend: David Harris or just "Harris" as they called him. We found some of the coolest photos, check out the one below of Gamma & Tikey!!

pretty sure Leila will look just like her!

Nono looks like he could be Daddy's brother or two for sure!

A Cape Cod summer is never complete without Daddy's birthday on August 16th.
This year he was older than dirt - FORTY TWO!! Woah! We found a hilarious hat for him and he actually wore it!! WE laughed so hard I nearly pee'd myself - again!
I also found him a super cool Black dog cycling jersey - it looked so much like Muppet, right on the front of him!

Daddy's birthday was a two -parter as we closed up the house and drove to Boston for an end of summer treat. We had dinner with the Carey's, then cupcakes & coffee PLUS we got to stay up way past our bedtime. It was the best and I hope thats a tradition we can always count on. Everyone was grinning from ear to ear. Warm summer nights with friends are my favorite and everyone with us seemed to agree.

Hanging out in Boston this year was somehow different too - a good different. Maybe it was the lack of rain or the slower pace but I think everyone had a really nice time. We went on a Navy ship, to the Aquarium, the Science center, we ate ourselves silly, pet Carley the resident doggy at a local hotel, went to the park, watched a concert and dancing in the park and all in less than 48 hours. Success!

No one puked on the car ride to Boston - yay!

Hanging out looking at the public art installment by artist Ai Wei Wei's Chinese zodiac sculptures

who doesn't love a selfie stick?!

The Charleston NavyYard was so impressive - I couldn't believe they were real!

Every year, THIS is the food truck of my dreams. Im pretty sure that Daddy concurs (and mom would too if she could have dairy) Its exactly what you need on a hot summer day in the park. COOKIE MONSTAH!

Morty was really in need of a doggie fix and Carly put a grin on his grumpy face the moment he played eyes on her.

Dad loves to take us to the parks around town. I think he deliberately goes on a run scouting them all out just for us. : )

The Science Museum was sooooooo cool, we didnt have time to see it all but it just means we will have to go back next year, right. The coolest part was the lightweight show. You HAVE to see it. It was sooo amazing!! Check out the video!

Morty and Daddy are buds these days, lots of sports talk, recharging of bodies and electronic devices. Its pretty cute (dont tell him I said so though!)

Next up was a rushed trip back home to celebrate yet another birthday. This time it was for Grumpy Lil' MO. he was turning SEVEN. I thought he would really enjoy a grumpy Cat birthday with all the sourpuss faces. It was a perfect fit if you ask me. Morty's at home cake was Alllllll Oreos from our local Schnucks grocery store. It was soooooo yummy - good choice MO!

This year the AMAZING and wonderful Carolyn came to hang with Macho, Muppet & Mousse while we were away over the summer so they were all waiting for us when we arrived off the plane.
It was the best way for Mo to start his birthday : )

You know if Mortys birthday is over, it means school is right around the corner. Poor guy never really gets to have his big day on vacation. He's been a good sport about it though - maybe thats why they call him "Sporty Morty"?

Mortys darn wiggly tooth is still hanging in there! Ew!

Im not sure what to make of Mortys' first day drawing - it partly makes me want to cry but its also extremely cute and makes me want to squeeze him!!

"I was feeling nervous"

Okay, do you want to know MY feelings on going back to school?! I was SUPER DUPER EXCITED. Do you want to know why? This lady right here - MEEEEEEVVVEE!!

Maeve brings the Sass to the party I tell you. She cracks me up!

To round out August Morty was warming up to the idea of trying out his crazy wiggly tooth out. It was so disgusting we could hardly watch him eat or talk without wincing. As soon as Mom gave into the Nerf gun idea Theo gave him - it was on like Donkey kong!

Before the Nerf Gun

Did you even see what happened? It was so fast! Mom and her squealing is awfully annoying but we were just THAT excited about that thing being OUT!
(if you can't see the video try Firefox as your browser)

After - the tooth fairy did it again!

Stay tuned for toothless of September 2016!
