August is for Massachusetts

I'm determined to finally get on board with this journaling/blogging thing again and I know you all are too. You've missed me desperately - i know, i know!
Soooooooo much has happened in the last year and I can't wait to tell you all about it!!
The last time I checked in we were talking about August of LAST year, yes i know it's crazy but I have to stay in order or the whole story thing goes out the window. If anyone knows me, they know I love details and LOTS of them. I'm long winded and I don't care who knows it!

Onward!

Daddy turned the ripe old age of 42!!. He wore the gifts we bought him and I have to say, that shark hat is quit fitting for the vibe in Chatham these days. Sharks are EVERYWHERE and there are more each year, those poor sweet seals better watch out and no open water swimming for Daddy.

On Daddy's birthday we headed off the Cape to make our slow journey back towards The Lou. The coolest bit about traveling on your birthday means you get to celebrate in different zip codes or even time zones! You can tell how much we liked the traffic on the way in to Boston. BARF!

It was really fun to meet up with Daddy's old friends from college in Boston as well. Morty and Carey boys were all about making toot noises with their underarms (mom HATES the word "Pits"- ha!) and we had cupcakes to celebrate Daddy's big day - yum!!

Left to right: Me, Morty, Zack, Abe and Daddy

Daddy, Mommy, Greta & Matt

The Next day in Boston was super fun and we did things we've never done in Boston before. We toured Navy ships! We even were able to go inside and see where the crew cooked, ate, bathed and we also saw the Captains quarters. It was soooo cool. Creepy but cool.

My two favorite parts of the 2nd day were quite obvious and I want to repeat them ASAP. The Cookie MONSTAH food truck that made lots of fresh cookies and then you choose your ice cream of choice for an incredible ice cream sammy. What is better than that?/!!

My second favorite part of the day was petting and snuggling with Kali, the resident pup at the hotel. She was sooo calm, sweet and had the softest ears. It really made us miss our doggies even more (if possible). We couldn't wait to get home and snuggle Moose, Muppet and Macho!

Okay, so we can't round out an August post without stinker Morty's birthday being mentioned. I can't believe it but he turned SEVEN! He's no longer a little boy but an annoying Big Boy! I mean, who gets to stand on the dining room table on their birthday and NOT get in trouble?! # sweetsweetMorty - that's who! (I just want to note that the Grumpy Cat birthday bash my idea, of course. I thought they had so much in common that it was meant to be!)

I will admit that his choice in cakes was SPOT on. Oreo cake from Schnucks was the bomb!

Woo hoo! First day of school! We missed our friends over the summer and were very anxious to get back and see them in person. 3rd Grade and 1st grade. We both were on the same side of the hall where the big kids are!

Mom wants me to tell you that Mortys gross "Bird Tooth" hung on all the way through August. It must have been at least a month that thing just wobbled and blew around while he was talking. Brothers can be so gross!! Ew Ew ew.

Okay, stay tuned - heres to hoping I can get my act together to finally get caught up!!!

xoxoxo
