Ok, what we have here is my foot. Pretty ain't it? Anyway, aside from the undeniable beauty of my hooves, what you'll notice if you look closely is my toes seem to have a mind of their own....these are what my parents refer to as "Gatos". Don’t get it? Don’t worry, I’ll try to explain.
Follow along if you can, their logic and reasoning is skewed by the fact that they don't get out of the house much at all and all they have to talk to is each other, the dogs, cats and me...but here we go.
First off, you have to know that in Spanish, gato means cat. I don't know how many of you have cats, but for those of you that do, you know that when you try to put a cat somewhere that they don’t want to go, they go rigid and stick out all their toes and claws….well, I do the same thing. You see, when anyone tries to put socks on me, I give them my best cat imitation and try to snag some of the material with a toe or two in order to stop from having socks placed on my hooves….honestly, with the amount of attention my parents pay when they are dressing me (see Sweater Suit as an example), I’m lucky I haven’t lost any toes.
Anyway, because my parent think they are funny/witty and because no one is here but me to tell them they are wrong, they have named my adverse reaction to socks: Gatos….or, Got Toes….depending on how you want to look at it. They see it as bringing together their very limited Spanish vocabulary and a comparison of their child to a cat…I pity them.
