If you had happened to have the pleasure of seeing me yesterday or if you had been anywhere near me, you would know that I was not the baby that appears above. You see, yesterday we were in transit home.
Dad, being a bit anal about traveling, made us leave at the airport at 11 for a 1:50pm flight. When we arrive at the airport, it was pouring down rain both at the airport and also at home, but the good news was that our plane appeared to be on time!
As boarding time nears - having already spent about two hours at the airport - we headed down to the gate, and as we were standing at the gate waiting to begin finding our way to our seats, the information board in front of us all of a sudden grants us a two hour delay.....rrrrrrrr.
Somehow, none of the people at American Airlines could figure out that our flight would be delayed until 5 minute before boarding time. Sure, its a monsoon outside both at home and at the airport, and sure, the plane that was heading back to our home that left before our flight was delayed 2 hours, but how could they have known that our flight would be delayed as well? Seriously, its not like the good people at American Airlines have ever had to deal with storms, or delays, or airports, or planes, or anything like that at any time in the past; this is all new to all of us, cut them some slack!
So, as we look for somewhere to sit, I begin to express my displeasure with the fact that I should be home by now! Needless to say, 2 hours became 3, and many additional delays, tears, meals, naps and pees later, our 1:50pm departure finally pulled out of the gate at 5:00pm.
I have to admit, by the time we got on board my nerves and patients were way past frayed, so I left out a little frustration with a (or several) good ol' fashion primal screams....I've heard they can be therapeutic. No such luck in this case. In fact, for some reason, no one around me found my screams to be very soothing either.
Although they didn't help me, my teeth, my neighbors or my gums feel better, mom rubbing my head helped me fall asleep for most of the ride home. Once we arrived back at our home, and had managed to avoid a fight that broke out at our arrival gate, I expressed both my happiness with being home and my frustration with the day in general by whimpering and whining until bed time. What a great day!
