So, once they got the boat down to the beach, from where it had been resting in storage for the last several years, mom and I checked it out to make sure that it was in good sailing order.

We checked to make sure that the boat was sea-worthy, all the ropes were...ropish and the holes in the sail that the mice had made in order to turn the sail into a comfy winter bed had been repaired and that the sail was up to par with my expectations.

So, before Maggie took off, we took a final picture of her standing in the boat (on land) in order to give something to the Coast Guard in case she went missing.

Then...with a last push from dad, she was off! (Notice the tape job along the edge of the sail..that was to fill the hole the mice made.)

After floating around out there for a little while, she eventually returned to the beach...we were all surprised that she made it back at all! Anyway, as Maggie headed back to the beach I sat on the beach and screamed at Leila an Aunt Shereen to get out of the way because Maggie was heading for the beach and was out of control!

Once Maggie was safely back on the beach, dad and I plopped down on the beach and wondered how the boat was going to get itself back up from the water to the top of the beach....as we sat there longer and longer, it became obvious that dad was going to have to do the heavy lifting....shocking....

So, with Aunts Maggie and Shereen, Cousin Leila and mom all pointing and directing traffic, dad slowly lugged the boat back up the beach....hopefully Maggie enjoyed her final day sail, I know dad did! HA!
