Dignity? Who needs it!

I have watched the dogs with scorn over the last few months as they race from one potential feeding opportunity to another. I thought it was disgraceful the way they’d beg for everything in the pantry or whenever the food containers on the counter were opened. I thought it eerie the way they seem to be able to sense the presence of food from rooms away. Regardless of the time of day or the type of food that might be distributed, they were always there…begging. I asked them repeatedly, “Why lower yourself to begging for food from the man? Brother dogs, have some pride! What is the point?” It was during one of these times when Max turned to me and said simply, “Because I’m hungry, I like to eat, and they always have food.” It was then, thanks to my Guru of Food, that I got it. The next time dad pulled out the bag of Pirate Booty for a snack, I was first in line. Dignity sure is great, but it don’t fill the belly! Now throw me some food!
