Continuing on with our October recap
October in St. Louis is pretty awesome. The weather is amazing, the sweetness of summer is coming to a close and the kids symphony starts up. Mom usually takes just the two of us but I made other plans for one of the performances and Morty snatched up the opportunity to take his sweet friend (My friend Everett's little sister) Elsa along with him. It might have been the cutest "first date" there ever was!
One of the coolest activities I joined this year was band. I was really nervous about not knowing how to play a single instrument but my excitement took over when I tried out and could actually play Hot Cross Buns on the flute!! Woo Hoo!
Because we had Band Practice twice a week, Mom thought it would be fun to start a mini homework club right after school to get stuff done before Band Practice and not have to drive drive drive to and from the house. Homework is NOT my jam but once I found out tat Maeve was game AND we would be given treats I couldn't resist! So started the Homework/Treat Club on Thursdays. MMMMM Khaldi's Double Chocolate Muffins are the best!!!
MORE Maeve time = Happy Time
The Frisellies, Macho, Morty, Mom & I finally made it to play at The Laumier Scuplture Park and it turned out to be pretty cool. I thought the art was super cool and it was awesome to bring Macho too, even if he did pee on everything. These bug sculptures you see below were my favorite but then we realized you weren't supposed to ride them??!! Super confusing seeing they looked like playground toys with a bit more pizazz !
Can you believe that we had never been to the Laumier Scuplture park? Its kind of embarrassing but you surely you can understand why Citygarden is so near and dear to us!
One of my favorite events in October is the "Bring a Friend to Field Hockey" night. Sure there are literally swarms of flying bugs everywhere but this year Maeve came with me and we had soon much fun. I thought for sure I had her wanting to play FH until she said "it was fun but just too much work and for what?" - we both laughed but Im wondering if she is right.
Lets get one thing straight. I hate dabbing and so you can easily see Maeve and I are protesting the ridiculousness and we are the kids in front...NOT dabbing! #DoNotConform
Of course you can't go through the month of October and not include The JBS Alumni Picnic! Its another awesome event in STL where we get to see so many friends all in one place. 2016 was the year of the photo booth and ice cream truck so it was MORE than a hit. Sadly I dont have a shot of Photo Booth Series but let me tell you that we rocked it with boas, hats glasses and attitude. Even Mom, Auntie Tiya, Elsa & Claire got in on the act. It was EPIC!!
When you're in 1st Grade, the field trip that everyone looks forward to is The Eckert's Pumpkin Patch. Whats so great about a pumpkin patch you ask??.....

The Punkin Chunkin' ! I kid you not - they have their very own "Punkin Chunker" and the kids get to load it up and watch how far it goes!! Its the coolest. Another awesome highlight is the apple picking and hay ride - the whole day is blast. The one difference from my trip out there was that Morty came home with a 100 LB pumpkin this time. Who's playing favorites now Mom??!!
To keep up my street cred I am going to sign off this post with my sneaky mid-night pic of Morty snoozing away. Can you believe he can sleep like this? I Got YOU Morty! Ha!
